Description

A bit of a step up in quality from the last one, huh? Ahyuk.

Blockhead Bill - Redid the outfit completely, this time taking more cues from his original design. I kept some of the purple, but ditched the bathrobe, made the belt huge so it looked like a wrestling champ's belt. I wanted to give him work boots that were different from Mighty's, so I searched boots on Google for awhile until I found some that had the backing made out of this sweater material. I liked the idea, so I ran with it.

Also, Silver's got nothing on the chest hair that man has under his shirt. He just contains it for the sake of public decency.

Mama Armadillo - Toned down the tacky, cranked up the 50s housewife. I knew I wanted the apron to stay, but I changed the rest of it to seem more "homey" and "quaint". And I made her gloves yellow to look like Rubbermaid gloves for cleaning.

And I added subtle hints of blush around her cheeks, ears, and elbows to give her that flushed, "I just did a whole bunch of stuff" look.

Mighty - Ditched the denim jacket; Ray's got it now. Instead, I worked on making Mighty look more burly. He was too noodle-y in the last draft. Gave him the brown vest instead to make him look more outdoorsy and tough, same with the fingerless gloves with the gear on them. The boots are based on Timberland boots, only colored red and white to make him look like a hiker. And I gave him a rock-climbing belt, too.

I like this version a lot better. He looks really sweet and friendly, but also like he could be a solid fighter. And his shell looks better now, too.

Ray - I've had his design in my head ever since the Archie comics gave him his redesign, which is ugly as sin. I've always liked the cowlick over the bangs, and the dark muzzle over the light, but I liked the blue jacket Archie gave him, as well as his bigger squirrel tail. So there's elements of both game-Ray and comic-Ray mixed in here. And to solve the problem of choosing between having skin flaps or the jacket, I just did both! :dummy: I built the flaps into the jacket, as a piece of denim sewn into the sleeves and body of the jacket so he can still glide. And for the shoes, I gave him blue Chucks to give him that "kid brother" look.

He's uber cute. You can't handle the cuteness.

Matilda - I got sick of the goth idea pretty quick, but I wanted to keep her dark, so I went back to the issue she premiered in and based a new outfit off of Ben Bates' original design of her. That's where most of the accents for her design come from, including the blue around her eyes. And I added in some red for a splash of color.

Sister #2 - I liked the pigtails from the start, but not the rest of the outfit. I decided to keep the overalls to give her the adventurous look, but then I added the scarves and large cuffs to add some weight to her movement. Even though she's tiny, she looks like she's ready to go out and have fun adventuring. And I made her purple because it makes her look less girly and more aloof.

Sister #3 - Redid this one a few times. Didn't change her design too much from the original, but I gave her a new outfit, that, while more distinct looking, still doesn't completely suit her. She's the only one I feel needs more tweaking.

But other than that, I'm super psyched with how these came out! I think Ray came out the best.
