Knux Family - Rembrandt

I'm doing these in no particular order. They get done as they're designed. IDK.

This is my Rembrandt redesign, part of my Brotherhood of Guardians redesign project, and my Sonic character family project. [link] He's the fifth one from the top, with the fuzzy beard and glasses.

I'll be honest, even though Rembrandt's got one of the more memorable designs of the Brotherhood, it's still pretty ugly, and I don't care for it much.

See, my complaint with the Brotherhood, and echidna-lore in general, is that it jumps around in terms of design waaay too much. One generation it's based on Star-Trek, the next, everyone's wearing robes and stuff, then it's tribal, then it's this furry, geeky looking style that never shows up again. /Ancient echidnas had hipster glasses, apparently.

So, again, I picked out a few things to keep, and tossed the rest. I kept the fuzzyness, the champagne/dust color of his bangs, the bandages/ribbons that serve no purpose, and I kept the one shoulder swoosh-sleeve that he has originally. The rest went out the window.

Originally, he was just going to be fuzzy and blue red, and really shaggy looking. But then I tried it out, and it looked really generic. So I decided to add the turban to keep him kind of quirky, and made his muzzle a lot darker.

My vision for Rembrandt is that he was born at the very height of the echidna empire. It was a time of peace and unprecedented growth, and there was little fighting or guarding to do. So Rembrandt ended up being more of an ambassador to the out-lying echidna settlements than a fighter, hence his peaceful Gandhi-like appearance. It was his emphasis on communication between these settlements that enabled the echidna community to thrive and expand so rapidly.

I also wanted to make him a little fatter, but his robe ended up too billowy to be noticeable. Pretend he's kind of fat.
